La Bodega del Barrio Food Bank, located in Paseo Boricua is an extension of Vida/SIDA, the PRCC’s HIV/AIDS prevention and education program. At La Bodega we assist qualified families and families in need with food assistance. In addition to the food services, we provide nutrition education and cooking demonstration, facilitated by our collaborating partner Dominican University. Participants have learned to make quick simple healthy recipes and snacks all while maintaining cultural relevancy. The nutrition classes and the health education classes are now taking place on Thursday at El Mercado 2559 W. Division St. at 1:00pm, please call in advance for class schedules. 773-342-0855. Also in conjunction to the services we also offer free physical activity classes open to the entire community. You must be 18 year and older to register for class.
