As parent participants in the five week mini-course taught by the Grace Media Group received their course participation certificates, and safe passage workers continue to engage in a myriad of educational programs at Roberto Clemente Com- munity Academy, excitement contin- ues to build around the opening of the Parent Popular Institute/Parent University in Humboldt Park. Set for next Thursday March 26th, the open- ing of the Parent University has been brought about in part by the efforts of the Community as a Campus ini- tiative (CaaC), with the vision of mak- ing each school in the neighborhood a safe and inviting place to explore the world.
Parents of students from neigh- borhood schools have been the first community members invited to par- ticipate in CPSโ newly formed Parent University, which is located on the third floor of Clemente and is a part of the Puerto Rican Cultural Centerโs (PRCC) Parent Popular Institute. In addition to the mini-courses, computer and math tutorials, the Parent University at Clemente is of- fering pre-bridge programming in manufacturing and health care, in order to provide participants with a bridge to higher paying jobs.
Having produced their own vid- eos, depicting their personal visions of Paseo Boricua, safe passage work- ers have now completed the first of many mini-courses. Some of the up- coming mini-courses include African drumming, as well as culinary classes, fitness classes and many more. We would like to congratulate each of the participants of the Grace Me- dia Group video course and applaud them on their success in completing the first mini-course of the Parent University at Clemente Community Academy.
