The National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture (NMPRAC) took a Pledge of Excellence to commit to the highest standards put into place by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) on Thursday, March 3. Laura Lott, President and CEO of AAM delivered recognition of the pledge to the board of NMPRAC in a ceremony. The pledge stated, โin fulfillment of our educational mission, we will strive to operate according to national standards and best practices to the best of our abilities and in accordance with our resources.โ Ms. Laura Lott said, โThe American Alliance of Museums welcomes NMPRAC to our family of over 4,000 museums. I was thrilled to celebrate the boardโs signing of the museumโs Pledge of Excellence Thursday night. With this pledge, the museum takes an important first step in becoming accredited and nationally recognized as a professional museum operating with the highest standards of excellence in the field.โ โWe are excited to reach this important milestone. The board, staff, volunteers and community members have long envisioned this as the place to immerse yourself in the warmth of Puerto Rican culture and traditions. Today we stand among the best company that museums have to offer, The American Alliance of Museums,โ stated Billy Ocasio, CEO of NMPRAC. NMPRAC has prepared for national accreditation since opening its doors in 2014 as a National Museum.
