During two weekends in October, October 9–11 and October 17–19, renowned Puerto Rican actor Ángel Vázquez performed an extraordinary monologue about the life of Puerto Rican national poet Juan Antonio Corretjer at the Arcelay Theater in Caguas, Puerto Rico.
Almost all of the performances were at capacity, and the audience was taken through a powerful and moving narrative, accompanied by songs and poetry, outlining the life of Corretjer.

One of the most significant moments in the monologue is when Corretjer composed the poem “Boricua en la Luna” while on a trip to Chicago, where he visited the recently incarcerated Puerto Rican political prisoners, sisters Ida Luz Rodríguez and Alicia Rodríguez. He was deeply moved by the experience and later wrote a poem dedicated to them.
This poem is now inscribed on the Corretjer monument located at the entrance to the town of Ciales, Puerto Rico.
Following the performances, Ángel Vázquez received a prolonged standing ovation from the audience. He also personally acknowledged the Puerto Rican cultural delegation on stage, including the Executive Director of the PRCC, José E. López, and former Congressman Luis Gutiérrez.
