The new 26th Ward Alderperson, Jessie Fuentes, celebrated her inauguration with a one-of-a-kind community inauguration on May 15th at the newest small business incubator, the Mercado del Pueblo on North Avenue. This community inauguration was filled with community residents, organizers, family members, and strong Latina political leaders like Chicago Mayor’s Deputy Chief of Staff Dr. Cristina Pacione-Zayas, State Representative Lilian Jimenez, and Representative Delia Ramírez. Before the community inauguration, The Puerto Rican Cultural Center held a recognition ceremony to honor our community scholars who have pursued higher education, while working with The Puerto Rican Cultural Center, in the fields of Latin American Studies, Urban Planning, Social Work, and more! The entire event was a testament to the fact that the new 26th Ward Alderperson is truly a product of this community and she continues to carry the 26th Ward community with her to Chicago city council.
