The Violence Prevention & Intervention (VPI) Department at the Puerto Rican Cultural Center is proud to continue bringing our community together through our bi-monthly Open Mic Nights at Urban Theater, hosted by VPI’s Victim Advocate Xiomara Rivera (Cece). These events provide a welcoming platform where local artists can step forward, share their voices, and showcase their talents.
The purpose of our Open Mic is to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive space for self-expression and creativity.Whether through music, poetry, spoken word, storytelling, or other forms of artistic expression, every performer contributes something unique and meaningful to the experience.
We are honored to celebrate the incredible artists who continue to share their gifts with our community. Their courage, passion, and creativity are what make these events so impactful. Each performance serves as a reminder of the talent, resilience, and beauty that exists within our neighborhoods.
Our Open Mic events also reflect our commitment to violence prevention by fostering positive spaces where individuals can connect, build relationships, express themselves, and inspire one another through the power of art and culture.
