Join the GoFundMe Campaign to support Michelle Morales’ Family

By La Voz Staff

The Friends of Michelle Morales are asking for your support.

Our beloved Michelle passed away on October 22, 2026, but before she passed, she made the following request to ensure that her beloved family has some financial security in the coming days and years.

“Those of you who know and care for me know that I have been fighting breast cancer for the last 5 ½ years. After so many battles fought, treatments endured, setbacks faced, and victories celebrated, my tumors are not responding to treatment. My body isn’t strong enough to handle chemotherapy anymore; my oncologist recommended we stop all treatments. The benefits no longer outweighed the risks. I am now in home hospice.

Throughout my journey people have asked how they can support my family and I during this long fight. Asking for help, especially financial assistance, has never come easily to me. But after much prayer and with the loving encouragement of my friends, I’ve found the courage to open my heart and create a way for my community to come alongside me and help carry some of the weight during this difficult season.

In this final stage of my life, my greatest worry is the financial future of my family. Your generosity would help ensure my son Xavi can finish his degree without financial stress and provide my husband with some stability as he navigates life and grief without the security of two incomes. Above all, I want peace of mind knowing the people I love most will be cared for.

I am deeply grateful for the love and generosity you extend to my family as I boldly navigate this final chapter of my life. Your support means more than words can express.” – Michelle (October 14, 2026)

On behalf of the PRCC, we ask that you support Michelle Morales’ family by giving generously during this difficult time.

Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos Puerto Rican High School and Puerto Rican Cultural Center Announce the Michelle Morales Scholarship

By Melissa Lewis and Marvin Garcia, Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos Puerto Rican High School

On behalf of our school and Board of Directors, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Scott, Xavi, Timothy, Elisa, Crystal, and the entire Morales family. While we will deeply miss Michelle’s physical presence, her legacy will live on through the institutions she helped strengthen, the young people she inspired, and the countless lives she touched.

Michelle was truly one of our community’s treasures. We were fortunate to have her at our school, and we will forever be grateful for her contributions.

To honor Michelle’s extraordinary life and legacy, Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos High School and the Juan Antonio Corretjer Puerto Rican Cultural Center have established a scholarship in her name. This scholarship will recognize a student who embodies Michelle’s lifelong love of learning, deep commitment to community, and unwavering pursuit of justice. Through this scholarship, we hope to inspire future generations to carry forward the values and ideals that defined Michelle’s life.
